Longest Day Golf Challenge

Friday, 2nd July 2010

JACOBS STEELS SWINGING ACTION RAISES OVER 4,000 FOR MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT

Two teams captained by the directors of Jacobs Steel Estate Agents raised over 4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support when they put their stamina to the test by taking part in the 2010 Longest Day Golf Challenge on fathers day Sunday 20th June.

In their bid to complete the sponsored golf marathon, backed by football legend, Gary Lineker, team members, Ashley Jacobs, Nigel Buckland, Stephen Atkins, Damian Webber, Derek Steel, Peter Kennard, Ian Gibb and Simon stoner, took to the greens at Worthing Golf Club and played a mammoth four rounds of golf in just one day.

Team member Ashley Jacobs says: Playing 72 holes in just one day was a real challenge and by the end of it we were all feeling rather weary! Weve had a great day though and would like to thank both Macmillan and Worthing Golf Club for all their support. Knowing that every hole we played helped raise more money for such a worthwhile cause really spurred us on. It was made even more special by Ian Gibb getting his first ever hole in one!

Macmillan Cancer Support hopes the popular golfing challenge, will raise more than 365,000 to help them continue providing services which help make a real difference to the lives of cancer patients and their families.
