Jacobs Steel in partnership with Guild Care

As a business, we have a long-standing relationship with local charity Guild Care, who have been making a difference to the lives of people in Worthing and the surrounding areas since it was first established in 1933.

Guild Care's mission is to deliver innovative and life-changing care services which help older people, children and adults with a disability, those living with dementia and their carers, to share and enjoy a richer family and community life.

What do Guild Care do?

Guild Care helps those living with learning disabilities and complex needs, provides dementia care and support to carers, aims to reduce loneliness and offers 3 care homes and sheltered accommodation within Worthing and the surrounding areas.

Each year over 3,000 people and their families will be touched by one of Guild Care's diverse range of more than 30 community services. These will include:

  • Home care service
  • Community transport service
  • Respite and short breaks for carers of people living with dementia, or who are frail or elderly
  • Support services for families of children and adults with disabilities and additional needs
  • Day services for older people
  • Three care homes providing dementia, nursing, residential and respite care
  • Supported housing schemes and assisted living accommodation

Guild Care is also one of the largest employers in Worthing, with over 650 dedicated and caring staff and the support of more than 300 fantastic volunteers.

The furniture collection service

Guild care offer free furniture collection to those who have excess belongings they wish to get rid of. Jacobs Steel are working in partnership with them on this scheme to assist homeowners who are moving or downsizing and require furniture that is no longer required to be collected, with no charge.

Items that Guild Care can take include (but are not limited to):

  • Large items of furniture
  • Electrical goods
  • Clothes
  • DVDs and books
  • Toys

The items that they collect will be re-sold in one of their 10 stores in and around Worthing; and as a not-for-profit organisation, all of the proceeds will go to providing vital support to the local community.

This donation scheme means that the important services offered by Guild Care can continue well in to the future and beyond!!
