Jacobs Steel sponsors school's Greenpower racing project

We are thrilled to be partnering with Worthing High School to sponsor the fantastic Greenpower programme in 2022.

On Wednesday 15 December, our Managing Director, Pat Barton, and Marketing Manager, Sarah Cox, visited Worthing High School to meet the team and their Greenpower car. Jacobs Steel will be supporting the team with sponsorship to ensure they can enter the 2022 Greenpower racing heats. 

The team comprises students from all years, both boys and girls.  The team has grown from its humble beginnings in 2017 with 3 students to a team of 10 or more.  The team meet each week to maintain and improve their car, as well as test the car in preparation for the forth-coming season.  They also have plans for building a new car and are currently experimenting with different designs before committing themselves to building it for the new season.  Already they have started to collect parts to build the second car, although costly to obtain they are all involved in designing their new car.

Jacobs Steel was approached by James Anderson and Charlie Russell (both Y8 students), they drafted a letter and sought approval from the school before paying a visit to our office in Broadwater.  Branch manager Ollie Whiting was so impressed by the two boy’s sales pitch to him, he forwarded their letter to our Managing Directors who jumped at the opportunity to support the team.
